Art Therapists are professionals that are trained to integrate psychotherapeutic principles to creative processes.

Art Therapy at Kids Inspired is focused on the process of self-expression, and art-making to help clients understand their emotional conflicts, develop social skills, improve self-esteem, reduce anxiety, and promote positive mental health to their lives.

We tailor each session to the individual client’s needs and capabilities, artistic, physical and mental.  No previous artistic skills or experience is required, art therapy is available for everyone.

Sessions are conducted by our Art Psychotherapist Alex who is registered with the professional organisation ANZACATA - https://www.anzacata.org/

At Kids Inspired we tailor our art therapy sessions to each child/teen based on their aesthetic interest, NDIS goals and physical capabilities.  We strive to ensure the sessions are engaging and provide a non-direct and gentle method to illustrate their inner thoughts/feelings.

Intervention/Therapy

After an initial session of the client, we tailor future sessions to the specific goals of the client and parental concerns; in particular using the art-making to encourage more self-awareness, emotional regulation, social skills, and overall healthier mental well-being.

Based on the parent and the child initial, the Art Therapist may recommend commencing therapy sessions targeting an area(s) of concern. Recommendations and goals will vary according to your child’s needs and take into consideration the needs of the child and family.

Therapy sessions are individually planned and tailored to help your child achieve their NDIS goals. Therapy sessions are engaging, creative and fun to allow your child to reach their full potential. Parents are encouraged to participate in therapy sessions if the child is 5 or younger.  All art materials are provided by the art therapist, the client does not need to bring anything to the session.
